Pop music is a popular genre that has given some of the promising names to the international music industry. With its modest beginnings in the 1940s, an era that saw many difficult international situations, pop music has charted a great course. Since then pop music has come a long way and has forged a new space for itself. Top 40 is a music industry term that is officially used to describe billboard chart busters. In the UK, by 1964, top 40 radio format was a huge hit among English people who got the opportunity of listening to some of the famous 40 songs of the week. This format was hugely popular in the 1960s till 1980s.
According to the music critiques, pop music is nothing but popular music. A kind of music that became an instant hit came into limelight and became popular among masses. So, pop music had a huge fan following and its musicians became cult figures.
However, in the present scenario, some of the famous pop musicians include Akon, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Daughtry, Beyonce, Carrie Uunderwood, Avril Lavinge, Gewn Stefani and Nickelback. These are some of the prominent names that have made on the list of Billboard chart toppers of the year 2007.
The growing popularity of pop music has made it a booming industry where each and every artist comes with exciting piece of music. Therefore, the present music scenario appears to be one of the best phase of pop music industry that is growing at a fast pace. Also as we can see that top 40 charts of each country has different songs of their favourite artist. Top charts for UK will be different from top charts of the US. However, even though there are different for various artist in each country, but it still demonstrate the popularity of pop song throughout the world.
